Richard is a highly experienced session violinist and string arranger available for live performance and recording projects. Trained at the Brit School and followed by a degree in classical performance at Canterbury Christchurch, his playing draws on folk, blues, jazz, world and classical styles. 

 

Richard’s years of classical training have deepened his understanding of musical harmony and structure, and furthered his ability to arrange complex string sections. Richard is recognised for his natural ability and flair to improvise and compose in many genres, including jazz, pop, blues and folk, always bringing his unique style and energy to a recording. Artists he has worked with include Nigel Kennedy, Adele, Nine Below Zero, Billy Childish, and Sniff ‘n’ the Tears. He works regularly as a session violinist at Abbey Road Studios.

 

Richard has worked on music for film and television, his arrangement of the Bach Double Violin Concerto in D Minor for his band Lost Revellers, features prominently in a 2019 Italian feature film ‘Lovers’ which won awards at film festivals globally. He is currently working on a new collaboration, composing gypsy jazz music for film and television. 

Richard is available for session work in London, Kent, Sussex and the South East, and is fully set up to record from home for remote sessionwork  - either solo violin or full string section arrangements can be provided.
